What is Carbon Steel?

Carbon Steel is steel by carbon content up to 2.1% by weight. The classification of carbon steel from the American Iron and Steel Institute (AISI) those are necessary in the steel to consider it as the carbon steel like:

  • Least amount of copper content (0.40%)
  • Maximum content of manganese (1.65) and silicon (0.60)
  • Minimum content of chromium, cobalt, nickel, niobium to get the desired alloying effect.
